JOB TITLE:                Management Accountant

REPORTS TO:          Chief Financial Officer


  • Adhere to the month-end reporting timetable.

  • Prepare draft monthly management accounts including month-end journals and relevant supporting reconciliations/schedules for each company.

  • Prepare consolidated group draft monthly management accounts including month-end journals and relevant supporting reconciliations/schedules.

  • Prepare variance analysis & conduct investigations to understand key drivers of business, provide & monitor relevant KPIs to support these. Present variance analysis to the relevant business leaders.

  • Prepare margin analysis/reconciliations for each of the manufacturing companies.

  • Preparation of monthly information & analysis for regular reporting packs & presentations

  • Assist in the treasury/cash management function, preparing cash forecasts.

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting cycles in the business with high-quality financial information.

  • Working with CFO and finance team to drive continuous improvement and to support business growth.

  • Support when needed the preparation of regulatory & statutory reporting returns/surveys for the companies.

  • Liaising with auditors to support annual statutory accounts process.

  • Performing internal audits and making recommendations for process improvements and internal control strengthening across the organisation.

  • Support of other finance processes as required (including payroll, VAT, cash etc).


  • At least 3 years post qualified experience in industry

  • Fully-qualified accountant – CIMA, ACA, ACCA

  • Experience of preparation of financial analysis

  • Experience of maintaining financial information systems and use of ERP/MRP systems would also be desirable.

  • Strong practical accounting understanding/knowledge.

  • Good analytical skills.

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, are essential – PowerPoint would also be desirable.

  • Good communication skills – in person and in writing.

  • Able to work well as part of a team.

  • Well-organised and able to self-motivate.


  • Knowledge of a manufacturing environment

  • Experience of margin analyses and reporting

  • Understanding of BOMs

  • Knowledge of tax (VAT, Corporation tax, import duties, PAYE) would also be advantageous.
